Gian Mario Filelfo lettore 'antiquario' di Boccaccio: un nuovo codice Marcanova e qualche appunto su Cristoforo da Rieti

Gian Mario Filelfo as an ‘Antiquarian’ Reader of Boccaccio: A New Marcanova Manuscript and Some Notes on Cristoforo da Rieti This original, first-hand study investigates the presence of Boccaccio in the intellectual experience of Gian Mario Filelfo. It examines the Fortleben of the fourteenthcentury author in the Quattrocento from an entirely new perspective, one that is not limited to traditional references ad personam and ad locos, but is instead extended to broader systems of relationships among environments, spaces, places, and above all routes – that is, infrastructures – through which and along which this phenomenon unfolded. Such a wide-ranging methodological approach has yielded significant scholarly results across multiple fields, including literature, philology, paleography, codicology, and cultural history: 1) a more comprehensive interpretation of Sabadino degli Arienti’s Porretane and of the distinctive role played by Felice Feliciano; 2) the identification of a specific antiquarian” line characterizing the reception of Boccaccio within the Filelfo-Feliciano-Sabadino sodalitas, articulated through a reciprocal system of roles (writer, performer, author, owner) seemingly activated by Gian Mario himself and reflected in the cultural landscapes connected with the Marchigian milieu of Ciriaco d’Ancona; 3) the discovery of a new Marcanova manuscript (now Città del Vaticano, BAV, Patetta 366), containing Gian Mario Filelfo’s Glycephila transcribed by Sabadino degli Arienti, which makes it possible to document for the first time the humanist’s (and Sabadino’s) connections with the renowned Paduan physician; 4) the elucidation of the artistic-antiquarian connotation that characterized Gian Mario’s literary production and scribal activity during the final twenty years of his life.
