The flourishing period of thermalism had its climax between 1800s and 1900s, during the fifteen years of the so called Belle Époque. The prevailing style in arts and architecture has been called in different ways in Europe, while in Italy it assumed the appellation of Floreale or even Liberty. The beauty of Liberty-style buildings, today well preserved in Montecatini Terme, a traditional thermal town in province of Pistoia, has still a cultural sense but lost part of its glamour and tourism attraction. The paper deals with cultural features linking this form of architectural heritage, its artifacts, designers, architects, builders, politicians and artists, to the past sense of place and the necessity to revitalize it. Nowadays, this cultural character could be reconsidered in a cultural and thermal revival, yet integrating the offer into a wider territorial space that includes other thermal towns located in the same province.

Abstract
Nowadays, this cultural character could be reconsidered in a cultural and thermal revival, yet integrating the offer into a wider territorial space that includes other thermal towns located in the same province.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
