Francesco Filelfo e la Bibbia

The paper focuses on the reception of the Bible by one of the most important italian humanists, Francesco Filelfo, never investigated on this account, since his main literary production is not specificlly addressed to that tradition. It provides a very wide overview on the different ways with which Filelfo reinterprets and uses the Holy Scriptures, always employed toghether with the classical authors, and, often, via the Church Fathers. The analysis starts from his vernacular production (in particular from the hagiographic poem Vita di san Giovanni Battista), goes through his latin and greek production (Odae, Satyrae, De iocis et seriis, Psychagogia, Sphortias, Orationes, Commentationes florentinae de exilio), and arrives untill his impressive epistolarium, the biggest expression of his intellectual experience. The article points out the great relevance of research on this field in order to reconstuct the bibliotheca sacra of Francesco Filelfo.
