Two nineteenth-century Fabrianese manuscripts never considered in relation to Carlo Crivelli allow to follow up on the increase in studies linked to the late activity of the Venetian master, in the past less attractive to scholars. We will present new elements regarding the collecting history of the two altarpieces he executed for S. Francesco in Fabriano, specifying the stages of their dispersion and providing further insights into the early estimators of Crivelli’s work between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. In conclusion, attention will be drawn to how one of the two Fabrianese manuscripts seems to mention another painting by Crivelli, for which a discussion will be raised with the aim of achieving a future and full understanding.

Abstract
Two nineteenth-century Fabrianese manuscripts never considered in relation to Carlo Crivelli allow to follow up on the increase in studies linked to the late activity of the Venetian master, in the past less attractive to scholars. We will present new elements regarding the collecting history of the two altarpieces he executed for S. Francesco in Fabriano, specifying the stages of their dispersion and providing further insights into the early estimators of Crivelli’s work between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. In conclusion, attention will be drawn to how one of the two Fabrianese manuscripts seems to mention another painting by Crivelli, for which a discussion will be raised with the aim of achieving a future and full understanding.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
