The paper presents the findings of a focus group analysis conducted as part of the Co-Ima project, with the objective of investigating the concept of “controversial image”. This analysis involved a comparison with objects representing ideas that cannot be defined in a univocal way. The involvement of various dialogue groups resulted in the creation of spaces for discussion in which all participants were able to express their points of view, engage with other narratives, and explore the artistic, social and cultural dimensions of emerging issues. The following aspects will be explored in greater depth: the process of constructing knowledge and understanding (through dialogue, discussion and debate) and the controversy arising from the interpretations expressed. By retracing the methodology of qualitative research and focusing on the pedagogical reinterpretation of the results, it is possible to highlight the role of places and times of critical reflection in which collective reciprocity takes on interesting interpretative lines.
