Apuleian echoes in the first pseudo-Sallustian letter ad Caesarem can be fully explained in light of the not uncommon Sallustian echoes in Apuleius’ works: Pseudo-Sallust was probably an ancient scholar of Apuleius who enjoyed himself in forging not only pseudo-Sallustian works, but also pseudo-Sallustian models for some Apuleian passages. Besides, the first pseudo-Sallustian letter ad Caesarem may be used to confirm the presence of a normally neglected author’s variant in De deo Socratis 22.

Abstract
Apuleian echoes in the first pseudo-Sallustian letter ad Caesarem can be fully explained in light of the not uncommon Sallustian echoes in Apuleius’ works: Pseudo-Sallust was probably an ancient scholar of Apuleius who enjoyed himself in forging not only pseudo-Sallustian works, but also pseudo-Sallustian models for some Apuleian passages. Besides, the first pseudo-Sallustian letter ad Caesarem may be used to confirm the presence of a normally neglected author’s variant in De deo Socratis 22.File in questo prodotto:
