PER UN’ARCHEOLOGIA DEI CORPI RESISTENTI E DELL’UMANITÀ CHE RI-ESISTE: RILEGGERE MAINE DE BIRAN

2025 marked the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, as well as the pivotal role played by resistance movements in liberating Italy and Europe from Nazism and Fascism. To address the topic, this article proposes an “archaeology of resistance”, based on the idea that resistance, as a political phenomenon, is rooted in the body’s innate resistance. To illustrate this concept, the article references the work of Maine de Biran, who argued that the ‘ego’ is inseparable from the resistant body, and that resistance takes the form of ‘re-existence’, centred on a politics of embodied humanity — the very essence of resistance.
