This study presents a systematic literature review of 66 peer-reviewed articles, sourced from the Scopus database, examining the state of theoretical and empirical research on the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and blockchain technology (BCT) in the fields of supply-chain management, internationalization, sustainability, law and governance. By combining business and legal perspectives, this study advances previous research by providing an overview for balancing technological advancement with business processes and regulatory oversight. Key findings show both advantages and challenges deriving from the combination of AI and BCT. These technologies support firms in fostering business innovation and supply-chain management. They enable automation and on-chain data storage and access, thereby improving supply-chain and operation management, and contributing to achieving social, economic, and environmental sustainability. However, the regulatory landscape remains fragmented, posing challenges for firms adopting these technologies. Based on the results obtained, the paper proposes a conceptual model that visualizes the integration of AI and BCT across diverse domains, potentially informing both industry practitioners and the design of industrial policies in this field.
