In contrast, the collection is presented as a subjective symbolic space, linked to desire and residual logic, particularly suited to children's books. The case of the Biblioteca Billiken and its Serie Azul demonstrates how adapted classics—such as María by Jorge Isaacs or Una excursión a los indios Ranqueles by Mansilla—were visually and discursively transformed to serve pedagogical, political, and identity-related purposes. Illustrations play a central role in this resignification, altering or emphasizing certain meanings of the original text. Both the archive and the collection reveal hidden dimensions of literary culture. Far from being mere secondary products, the classics adapted for children open up new possibilities for critical reading, exposing tensions between the visual and the textual, the canon and marginality.
