Diritto costituzionale e multiculturalismo: trent'anni dopo

The essay offers a framework of the complex constitutional issues posed by multiculturalism. Thirty years after the first theoretical reflections on the phenomenon, it is necessary to consider the illiberal tendencies that characterize some Western democracies, and the serious difficulties that have characterized multicultural policies. In this context, the fundamental issue is the definition of the area of shared culture and common values.On this point it seems necessary to enhance the constitutional provisions on freedoms and rights and duties, achieving a careful balance with the right to cultural identity.
