The paper describes the first results of the discovery of the manuscript fragmentary copy of the process against Francis of Ascoli (a. k. a. Francis of Appignano, Francis of Marchia), made by E. L. Wittbenen. The text was know to the present only though the transcription published by E. Baluze. The discovery allows students to better understand the structure of the fragment (partially misunderstood by Baluze and, following him, by Nazareno Mariani) and above all, to retrieve an important passage missing in Baluze's transcription, where Francis of Marchia attacks Nicholas V, the Franciscan friar appointed to papacy by Louis the Bavarian.

Abstract
The paper describes the first results of the discovery of the manuscript fragmentary copy of the process against Francis of Ascoli (a. k. a. Francis of Appignano, Francis of Marchia), made by E. L. Wittbenen. The text was know to the present only though the transcription published by E. Baluze. The discovery allows students to better understand the structure of the fragment (partially misunderstood by Baluze and, following him, by Nazareno Mariani) and above all, to retrieve an important passage missing in Baluze's transcription, where Francis of Marchia attacks Nicholas V, the Franciscan friar appointed to papacy by Louis the Bavarian.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
