L’infinito: nell’«immensità» testuale delle traduzioni

Abstract · L’infinito: in the textual “immensity” of translations · The article illustrates the find- ings of the editorial project L’infinito of Giacomo Leopardi in the world (2022), that was realised in occasion of the bicentenary of the composition of L’infinito and resulting from the collaboration between the National Center for Leopardian Studies of Recanati and the Giacomo Leopardi Chair of the University of Macerata. On the basis of the new corrected and expanded edition of a (numerically symbolic) selection of one hundred translations of Leopardi’s idyll in foreign languages, both published and unpublished, starting from the historically most famous authors up to the current ones, it is proposed a comparative analysis, that is aimed to highlight distanc- es and sharing of translation’s choices in poetic transposition, of some texts revised after years in Spanish (A. Colinas, 1979 and 2006), Catalan (N. Comadira, 1985 and 2013), Polish (S. Kasprzysiak, 1990 and 2019) and of the four diπerent French versions (Y. Bonnefoy, 2000; J. Ch. Vegliante, 2018; J. Gayraud, 2011; R. de Ceccatty, 2011), together with the presentation of some of the most significant linguistic innovations of the last decades, namely the translations into Bulgarian (E. Dimitrov, 2021) and Arabic (S. Murqūs, 2008) and the two unpublished ones in Vietnamese (N. Chí Trung, 1998) and Polish (G. Franczak, 2022).

Riassunto · L’articolo illustra gli esiti del progetto editoriale L’infinito di Giacomo Leopardi nel mondo (2022), condotto in occasione del bicentenario della composizione de L’infinito e risultato della collaborazione tra Centro Nazionale di Studi Leopardiani di Recanati e Cattedra Giacomo Leopardi dell’Università di Macerata. Sulla base della nuova edizione corretta e ampliata di una selezione (numericamente simbolica) di cento traduzioni dell’idillio leopardiano nelle lingue stra- niere, edite e inedite, dagli autori storicamente più celebri a quelli attuali, si propone un’analisi comparata, finalizzata a mettere in evidenza distanze e condivisioni delle scelte traduttive nella trasposizione poetica, di alcuni testi revisionati a distanza di anni in spagnolo (A. Colinas, 1979 e 2006), catalano (N. Comadira, 1985 e 2013), polacco (S. Kasprzysiak, 1990 e 2019) e di quattro diverse versioni francesi (Y. Bonnefoy, 2000; J. Ch. Vegliante, 2018; J. Gayraud, 2011; R. de Ceccatty, 2011), unitamente alla presentazione di alcune delle più significative novità linguistiche degli ultimi decenni, ovvero le traduzioni in bulgaro (E. Dimitrov, 2021) e in arabo (S. Murqūs, 2008) e i due inediti in vietnamita (N. Chí Trung, 1998) e polacco (G. Franczak, 2022).
