The current paper traces the stages of the longstanding and still ongoing tradition connecting the Archaeological Mission of the University of Macerata with Libya, focusing on the research conducted there since 1968. The first part describes the main accomplishments and the resulting current activities, as far as restoration works are concerned (Severan Arch at Lepcis Magna; Mausoleum B and ‘frescoed tombs’ at Sabratha), as well as the study and publication of several monuments in Tripolitania. The second part outlines the future research prospects, related to three strategic areas: i) digitization of the documentation archived at the University of Macerata; ii) training; iii) conservation, restoration, study, and publication of key monuments at both Sabratha and Lepcis Magna. New investigations include the Market at Lepcis and the Byzantine defense walls at Sabratha.

New investigations include the Market at Lepcis and the Byzantine defense walls at Sabratha.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
