The end of the work society cannot be addressed in exclusively sociological terms, but contains theoretical implications. In fact, the very experience of the self-understanding of the human being and the production of subjectivity is modified. Needs, taking the place of work as a total social fact, no longer refer to an object or a final satisfaction, but become nothing more than a sign. Starting from this initial thesis, the paper proposes two questions: 1. What happens to the subject in the era in which need is nothing more than a sign? 2. Can a metaphysics of radical needs contribute to freeing human beings from the semiotization of need?

Abstract
The end of the work society cannot be addressed in exclusively sociological terms, but contains theoretical implications. In fact, the very experience of the self-understanding of the human being and the production of subjectivity is modified. Needs, taking the place of work as a total social fact, no longer refer to an object or a final satisfaction, but become nothing more than a sign. Starting from this initial thesis, the paper proposes two questions: 1. What happens to the subject in the era in which need is nothing more than a sign? 2. Can a metaphysics of radical needs contribute to freeing human beings from the semiotization of need?File | Dimensione | Formato | |
