Non scusarti per quel che hai fatto is a collection of poems in translation by Maḥmūd Darwīsh (1941-2008) recently published by Crocetti. In his book, Darwīsh, who is considered Palestine’s national poet and is regarded as one of the most important voices in contemporary Arabic poetry, explores the sense of alienation embodied by what might be called “the other Self”. The suffering of Palestine is intertwined with that of the poet, who finds in the use of memory a site of spatial and cultural resistance. Darwīsh’s poetic language, well re-created by Sana Darghmouni and Pina Piccolo, becomes the privileged tool for re-imagining the Self in the attempt to overcome the feeling of estrangement and displacement that plagues the lyrical subject.

Abstract
Non scusarti per quel che hai fatto is a collection of poems in translation by Maḥmūd Darwīsh (1941-2008) recently published by Crocetti. In his book, Darwīsh, who is considered Palestine’s national poet and is regarded as one of the most important voices in contemporary Arabic poetry, explores the sense of alienation embodied by what might be called “the other Self”. The suffering of Palestine is intertwined with that of the poet, who finds in the use of memory a site of spatial and cultural resistance. Darwīsh’s poetic language, well re-created by Sana Darghmouni and Pina Piccolo, becomes the privileged tool for re-imagining the Self in the attempt to overcome the feeling of estrangement and displacement that plagues the lyrical subject.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
