This article is a contribution to the term of “solidarity economy”, which is not yet well rationalized. The solidarity economy is a set of economic processes put in place by social movements, that finds nowadays its place in scientific reflections. This article reassesses the etymological terms of “economy” and “solidarity” and summarizes the different contributions of economic sociology, proposing an analysis of the solidarity economy as a process of social and economic embeddement. To rationalize the termsolidarity economy it means to think about the economic principles and institutional models that solidarity economy uses to regulate economic and social activities: reciprocity, redistribution, market and gift. To do this we use the analysis of some authors (Laville,1998; Magatti, 1993; Granovetter, 1998) who refers to Karl Polanyi’s studies on regulation forms. This redefinition of terminology facilitates the analysis of the different economic principles which solidarity economy refers to as plural economy (Laville, 1998). In particular the analysis of reciprocity as symmetrical relationship in trade, and with the environment. This discussion underline an important concept of bem viver, whom was defined by the empirical experiences in Latin America, who firstly utilized this expression, even in a public and institutional context. These observations represent a breakthrough in the field of economic sociology.
Il presente articolo ha come obiettivo quello di dare un contributo terminologico sull’“economia solidale”. L’economia solidale è un insieme di pratiche e processi economici messi in atto dai movimenti sociali e che oggi trova spazio nelle riflessioni scientifiche. Il presente articolo rivaluta etimologicamente i termini di economia e solidarietà, e sintetizza i diversi contributi della sociologia economica, proponendo un’analisi dell’economia solidale come processo economico sociale di embeddement. Razionalizzare il termine di economia solidale significa ragionare sui principi economici e i modelli istituzionali di cui si avvale per regolare l’attività economica e sociale: reciprocità, redistribuzione, mercato e dono. Per fare ciò ci avvaliamo dell’analisi di alcuni autori (Laville,1998; Magatti, 1993; Granovetter, 1998) che riprendono gli studi di Karl Polanyi sulle forme di regolazione. Tale ridefinizione terminologica agevola l’analisi dei differenti principi economici a cui l’economia solidale fa riferimento, identificandosi, dunque, come una economia plurale (Laville, 1998). Tra i principi la reciprocità in modo particolare emerge come rapporto simmetrico tra i soggetti degli scambi economici, e dei soggetti rispetto alla natura, che apporta una riflessione importante sul concetto di bem viver affermato dalle pratiche dell’economia solidale in America Latina, che per prime utilizzano l’espressione di economia solidale anche a livello istituzionale. Queste riflessioni rappresentano un’innovazione nel campo della sociologia economica.
