Despite the fragmentariness of the available data, the analysis of the architectural members from the Harbour Basilica at Hephaestia (Lemnos) – currently investigated by the Italian School of Archaeology at Athens – has allowed to suggest a two-storeyed church. This fits the custom (perhaps modelled on Constantinopolitan prototypes) already acknowledged on the neighbouring island of Thasos; after all, from this latter almost all the members used in the building certainly came. In the current contribution, the study focuses on the reconstruction of the colonnade between the main nave and the side aisles of the Early- Byzantine church: as a matter of fact, some different members can be attributed to such structures. Moreover, some preliminary observations about the drilled plutei from the barriers are presented as well, their decoration patterns confirming the chronology already assigned to the building complex.

Abstract
Moreover, some preliminary observations about the drilled plutei from the barriers are presented as well, their decoration patterns confirming the chronology already assigned to the building complex.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
