The article focuses on five passages from Tertullian’s Adversus Marcionem where textual criticism is strictly connected to theological, philosophical, historical, and juridical issues. The passages under consideration, in order, are adv. Marc. 1,4,2; 1,25,3; 2,27,5; 5,4,9 and 5,17,14. For each of these passages, the article thoroughly examines and discusses the most significant philological contributions from the sixteenth century to the present day. Furthermore, it formulates proposals for the constitution of the text and the exegesis of the passages.
