This article analyses the need of introducing linguistic varieties into teacher’s lesson of German as a foreign language. The German language is structured into diatopic variation areas and offers a wide range of standard and not-standard varieties. The didactic suggestions are focused on the competence of understanding varieties, as for the examples analysed, in order to develop linguistic mediation competences as described by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages – Companion Volume (CEFR-CV).

Abstract
