As devastating as the effects of Covid-19 are for the community as a whole, the impact on women and girls proves more profound. Crises, and the pandemic among them, are never gender neutral but spill over differently onto men and women. This is not accidental. They invest and amplify inequalities already present and rooted in the different contexts of women’s lives. The contribution, covering the long path of women towards equality and the recognition of a full female subjectivity, reflects on some legal and political instruments in the system in order to verify their real suitability to prevent old and new discriminations, including gender violence, curbing or eliminating those harmful effects, no longer acceptable, on women’s human rights.

Abstract
As devastating as the effects of Covid-19 are for the community as a whole, the impact on women and girls proves more profound. Crises, and the pandemic among them, are never gender neutral but spill over differently onto men and women. This is not accidental. They invest and amplify inequalities already present and rooted in the different contexts of women’s lives. The contribution, covering the long path of women towards equality and the recognition of a full female subjectivity, reflects on some legal and political instruments in the system in order to verify their real suitability to prevent old and new discriminations, including gender violence, curbing or eliminating those harmful effects, no longer acceptable, on women’s human rights.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
