The essay show how fraternity manifests an aporetics of the origin of democracy. The crossing of this aporetics will give rise to two theses: [i] democracy is an attempt not yet realized to secularize fraternity. [ii] Democracy is the attempt to ward off that pathology of fraternity that we call terror, through the invention of specific social devices and techniques.
