Owein, Guerrin Meschino e Ludovico Enio: la lunga fortuna di un personaggio

The character of the knight-pilgrim is at a point of convergence between the traditions of long and short term. To define the features is the meeting between the literary character of the knight-errant and the extra-diegetic religious instances of penance and expiation. When the visionistic monastic texts accomplished their edifying function, the character continues to live in literary texts, where interbreeding with other types, retains some distinctive features, that is the monolithic unity of his profile and of his schematic psychology, the ability to generate a first person voice-over that turns the knight-pilgrim into a direct witness of his adventures. Our aim is to follow the development of our character from the Middle Ages to the Modern Age.
