Andrea da Barberino’s novel, Guerrin Meschino, has known immense success for five centuries. Represented in the squares of puppets and puppets, lying aloud in peasant meetings, Guerrin Meschino was a fundamental tool for access to the literary literacy of large sections of the Italian population. In the article, we will reconstruct the plot of the indirect tradition of Guerrin Meschino’s circulation through literary and extra-literary testimonies, trying to identify those traits that, passionate to the public, have profoundly marked the construction of the collective identity and collective imagination of a substantial portion of Italian population.
