The time we are living through is characterized by many fears and anxieties, because is seems that everything is slowly eroding. Relationships are constitutive of the self, the “I”: becoming aware of that is a warning that our being is not self-referential, and putting it into practice in our various daily activities is the way to put into practice the anteriority of our selves with respect to the Cartesian ‘ego cogito.’ In being turned towards others, we have in mind the request for love and meaning that each person expresses in every gesture. In caring for the irreducible fragility of others, we recognize them as valuable and deserving of respect and as desiring and needing to be seen in a way that does not erase their identity, but rather always recognizes, appreciates, and values them so as favor their full and complete flourishing.
