It is not easy to find and compare Propertius’s sources in the Roman elegies of his fourth book, because many texts are lost and he does not make orderly use of them, following his artistic intuition in a personal search for the causae and origins of Roman cults, rich in variatio and aemulatio. However, he certainly uses several prose and poetic works (Greek and Latin, often contemporaries) - investigated here -, taking from each of them information that he then reworks autonomously.

Abstract
It is not easy to find and compare Propertius’s sources in the Roman elegies of his fourth book, because many texts are lost and he does not make orderly use of them, following his artistic intuition in a personal search for the causae and origins of Roman cults, rich in variatio and aemulatio. However, he certainly uses several prose and poetic works (Greek and Latin, often contemporaries) - investigated here -, taking from each of them information that he then reworks autonomously.File in questo prodotto:
