The paper aims to analyze the content of a senatus consultum approved in heredes C. Vennonii and quoted by Cic., fam. 13, 72, 2. This analysis makes it possible to formulate some considerations on the interventions of the senate in matters of importance for privates already in the late Republican age and also on their value as precedent.
