The purpose of this paper is to outline a comparative framework of dialectic as it is thought by Zeno of Elea, then proven true and, at the same time, overcome by Plato. To this end, we consider the following issues: 1. outline of essential traits of Zeno’s dialectic; 2. Plato’s judgement on Zeno’s dialectic retrieved by the beginning of Parmenides; 3. presentation of Plato’s dialectic that overcomes and proves Zeno’s dialectic true. Indeed, Zeno’s dialectic outlines an aporetic and contradictory reality while Plato starts from the aporia – at all levels both physical and metaphysical – to design a complex model in which one and many can coexist without contradiction. This shows that, unlike Zeno’s dialectic, Plato’s dialectic explores a way to think and understand complexity.

Abstract
This shows that, unlike Zeno’s dialectic, Plato’s dialectic explores a way to think and understand complexity.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
