This paper faces the challenge of underlining the modernity of a borderline concept: Aristotle’s prime matter. Through this concept, I aim to show that Aristotelian physics, though passed in terms of solutions, still has a say, since it puts very big and current issues. We will examine the issue of generation from nothing that lies under the prime matter, and therefore the question about the origin of reality itself; then we will discover that this concept can be explained in many ways, since Aristotle has the ability to look at everything with an ancient still always new approach, open to new perspectives, thus multifocal.

Abstract
This paper faces the challenge of underlining the modernity of a borderline concept: Aristotle’s prime matter. Through this concept, I aim to show that Aristotelian physics, though passed in terms of solutions, still has a say, since it puts very big and current issues. We will examine the issue of generation from nothing that lies under the prime matter, and therefore the question about the origin of reality itself; then we will discover that this concept can be explained in many ways, since Aristotle has the ability to look at everything with an ancient still always new approach, open to new perspectives, thus multifocal.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
