Abstract: Study of an aspect of Mexican writer Juan Rulfo’s (1917-1986) Pedro Páramo (1955). In this novel, loneliness belongs to everyone in the village, as Rulfo pointed out and, most certainly, nearly all female characters live in a profound loneliness. Besides loneliness and abandonment, the sense of sin intensifies, and Christian faith—if there ever was one—disintegrates.
