The “Villa La Quiete” complex was built in Treia by the gonfalonier Luigi Angelini who, in 1815, entrusts the project of a “Country Casino” to the architect Giuseppe Valadier. The main building was built around 1820, inside a large park of about 4 hectares, rich in ancient vegetation; later the accessory constructions were built (small temples, pedestrian routes, terracing and underpasses). The building named the Gardener’s House, together with the four propylaea, constitutes the monumental entrance to this large and complex system. The earthquake that struck central Italy in 2016 severely damaged the built structures and the municipality of Treia, which owns the property, has started a project for the restoration, reuse and anti-seismic improvement of the buildings, to return this important monumental complex to public use. The project for the restoration of the “Gardener’s House” is the first step of this broader program.
