Social, cultural, political, technological and economic changes, such as globalization, migratory processes and cross-border population mobility, are key forces of transformation which have affected the notions of “home”, “family” and “Self”. Identities are “on the move”: they move across space and time, interact and undergo transformation. Identities are also discursively (re)produced, transformed, and destructed. This essay introduces the collection and its contents, putting the notion of identity - approached from different angles - into a unifying perspective.

Abstract

Social, cultural, political, technological and economic changes, such as globalization, migratory processes and cross-border population mobility, are key forces of transformation which have affected the notions of “home”, “family” and “Self”. Identities are “on the move”: they move across space and time, interact and undergo transformation. Identities are also discursively (re)produced, transformed, and destructed. This essay introduces the collection and its contents, putting the notion of identity - approached from different angles - into a unifying perspective.
