Educational spaces become places when they are inhabited by interpersonal relationships. Between belonging and differences, familiarity and “elsewhere”, we are seeking unstable balances to diverge from the static certainties that condemn us to an isolated socio-cultural poverty. Designing and staying in educational places means first knowing how to develop an intentional space for intercultural openness and the dissonant proximity of plurality. Going on a journey, generating intra- and intersubjective interactions and dialogues, involves being willing to risk breaking through fragile borders to build bonds and reflective projects. Thanks to a project conducted in Kilifi (Kenya), in urban and rural contexts, we will describe the paths of an action based on paradigms of participation, communities and mixed creative potential. The narration of the research strategies will bring out some important steps that recreate the sense of education and educating oneself, giving voice to continuous and reciprocal learning processes.
Gli spazi dell’educazione diventano luoghi quando sono abitati dalle relazioni interpersonali. Tra appartenenze e differenze, familiarità e altrove, ricerchiamo equilibri instabili in grado di farci divergere dalle certezze statiche che ci condannano a una solitaria povertà socio-culturale. Progettare e permanere in luoghi educativi significa innanzitutto sviluppare al proprio interno uno spazio intenzionale, volto all’apertura interculturale e alla prossimità dissonante della pluralità. Mettersi in viaggio, generando incontri e dialoghi, fuori e dentro di sé, comporta il rischio di attraversare confini labili per costruire legami e progettualità riflessive. Grazie ad un’esperienza condotta a Kilifi (Kenya), a stretto contatto con contesti urbani e rurali, ripercorreremo le tracce di un agire educativo messo in crisi da paradigmi di partecipazione, di comunità e di potenziali creativi meticciati. La narrazione del percorso di ricerca consentirà di scoprire sguardi e linguaggi che ricreano il senso dell’educare e dell’educarsi, restituendo voce a processi di crescita continui e reciproci.
