This contribution outlines how Primo Levi’s works were received in fictional and critical texts of contemporary Italian writers. The analyses of texts by Affinati, Nove, Paolin, Lagioia, Wu Ming, Leogrande, Saviano and others show a wide variety of representation phenomena: Levi’s works are quoted, used as a point of reference in the evaluation of other writings, or as founding elements for the definition of a literary aesthetics; the author himself occasionally becomes a novelistic character. The major themes subtending Levi’s varied presence in the works of his contemporaries are those of complexity and the return to reality.
