Abstract This paper focuses on the relationships between economic action, industrial work, consumption and worker’s identity, and it is divided into four parts. In the first part, the article dwells on the centrality of the economy (and its ethical and anthropological deviances) in contemporary society; in the second part, on the repercussions of the so-called “body politics” on the person who works; in the third part, on the significance of the consumption, and the production-consumption short circuit, for the development of worker’s identity; in the fourth part, on the contribution of pedagogical knowledge in order to promote a “human” culture of economy, industrial work and consumption.
