The papers reconstructs and examines the tradition and the reception of the military work of Aelianus Tacticus, from the Antiquity to the Modern Age, offering a very massive bibliography and a complete census of the manuscripts and ancient editions. According to the Catalogus translationum’ goals, it focuses on the latin translations made by Giovanni Aurispa, Teodoro Gaza, Francesco Robortello, Sixtus Arcerius, investigating the different contexts of the versiones ang giving, for each translators, a brief biographic entry. Here are published the preface of Teodoro Gaza to Antonio Panormita, and the preface of Francesco Robortello to Antonio Sergi from Pola.
