Fonti ebraico-medievali della grammatica spinoziana

The Compendium grammatices linguae hebraeae, one of Spinoza’s four unfinished works, was published in the Opera Posthuma (Rieuwertsz, Amsterdam 1677). This text is the result of a hasty and careless post mortem editing. Three centuries later, there is still no critical edition and the contributions to the emendation of this work are very few and far between. Moreover, there are only few studies on its sources. Accordingly, this paper has the following two goals: 1. to establish an indisputable tie between Spinoza’s Compendium and the grammatical ideas of Dunash ben Labrat (Fez 925c.-Cordova 990c.); 2. to compare the Spinozian classification of verbs, as here emended and corrected, to that provided by Mosheh Qimḥi (Narbonne, 1190), whose Mahalakh was in the library of Spinoza.
