I Ricordi al popolo della città et diocese di Verona di Agostino Valier. Un progetto per gli ‘stati di vita’ tra rinnovamento pastorale ed edificazione della civitas christiana

The article examines the first recorded case of 'reuse' of known Libretto de i ricordi written by Card. Carlo Borromeo for the people of the diocese of Milan in the aftermath of the plague of 1576/1577. In then analyses published by bishop of Verona Agostino Valier, in 1579, just one year after the publication of the princeps of the Borromeo’s work. After siting the treatise within the rich field of literature ad status, the article emphasizes the points of contact and the specific elements of this work, compared with the version of Milan, and analyses it within the framework of the broader educational program which Valier designed to reform the morals of the people of his diocese.
