The aim of the paper is to highlights the main trends of the migration process in Italy in the last decades, in relations to the migrant families experiences within the Italian context. In particular, the paper will focus on some specific issues: changing patterns of family migrations in Italy, migrant families formation transitions and life-course strategies, migrants and mixed families models, socio-economic indicators of foreign families experience, politics and policies for integration and families reunification. These aspects show the peculiarity of the Italian situation as regards the migration process as a family experience.
