On the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 27th, two Italian exhibitions have attracted attention – also thanks to a rich framework of related conferences, educational activities and the launch of new books – to children’s testimonies of the persecutions suffered during WWII. Children’s drawings and texts created in concentration camps on the one hand, and writings, drawings and didactic material produced when back at school after the war, on the other, testify the historical-documentary importance of these materials as well as their educational value for the younger generations.

Abstract

On the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 27th, two Italian exhibitions have attracted attention – also thanks to a rich framework of related conferences, educational activities and the launch of new books – to children’s testimonies of the persecutions suffered during WWII. Children’s drawings and texts created in concentration camps on the one hand, and writings, drawings and didactic material produced when back at school after the war, on the other, testify the historical-documentary importance of these materials as well as their educational value for the younger generations.
