La secolare storia della medicina è testimoniata in Umbria dai tre musei ad essa dedicati, che documentano l’evoluzione di una tradizione sviluppatasi entro le mura dell’abbazia benedettina di Sant’Eutizio a Preci (Museo dell’Abbazia di Sant’Eutizio), presto tramandata ai medici empirici “norcini” (Preci, Museo dei Ferri chirurgici), ed infine assurta a dignità accademica presso l’Ateneo perugino (Perugia, Museo di anatomia dell’Università). Tuttavia si impone una riflessione riguardo alle funzioni museali dei tre istituti in esame, sia in rapporto all’ecomuseo della Valnerina, di cui Preci è parte, sia in relazione alla stessa definizione di “museo”, in ordine al codice deontologico dell’ICOM e agli standard di funzionamento e sviluppo dei musei italiani (DM 10 maggio 2001). The century-old history of medicine is witnessed by the three museums in Umbria dedicated to it, documenting the evolution of a tradition developed within the walls of the Benedictine abbey in Preci Sant'Eutizio (Abbey Museum of Sant'Eutizio), early handed on to medical practitioners "butchers" (Preci, Museum of Surgical), and finally risen to the dignity academic at the University of Perugia (Perugia, the Museum of Anatomy University). However, it demands a museum about the functions of the three institutions concerned and in relation Ecomuseum Valnerina, which Preci is part, is related to the same definition of "museum", in relation to the ICOM code of ethics and standards of operation and development of Italian museums (DM 10 May 2001).
