The study forms part of a broader contribution entitled "Historical–Archaeological Reading of the Ancient and Post-Ancient Phases", which also includes a second section, "The Rocca in the Post-Classical Period", by Umberto Moscatelli and Alessandra D’Ulizia. The aim of the overall work is to provide a critical interpretation of the diachronic development of the Rocca Roveresca in Senigallia, with particular reference to the ancient and early medieval phases, as well as to systematically collect fragmented information within an integrated, interdisciplinary, and up-to-date body of data, including previously unpublished material. The investigation, which is part of the Technical and Scientific Research Project dedicated to the Rocca and carried out by the four universities of the Marche Region, with funding from the Polo Museale delle Marche of the Regional Directorate of National Museums of the Marche of the Italian Ministry of Culture, specifically seeks to obtain data useful for a hypothetical periodization of the area later occupied by the Rocca during antiquity. This is based on a systematic review of the scholarly literature and archival documentation, combined with a careful stratigraphic re-examination of the standing structures, compared with previous interpretative hypotheses. The resulting periodization appears to fit well with the main historical phases of the reference Roman city, the colony of Sena Gallica, from its initial settlement phase around 290 BC to the advanced Imperial period in the 2nd–3rd centuries AD.

Abstract
The resulting periodization appears to fit well with the main historical phases of the reference Roman city, the colony of Sena Gallica, from its initial settlement phase around 290 BC to the advanced Imperial period in the 2nd–3rd centuries AD.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
