Loreto e l'arte nell'epoca di Lotto e Tibaldi / Loreto and Art in the Age of Lotto and Tibaldi

The essay examines the artistic history of the Holy House of Loreto, the most important Marian shrine of the modern age, built around the venerated relic of the house of Nazareth, miraculously transported from the East. Starting in the second half of the 15th century, major artistic interventions are documented, entrusted to artists often active in Rome for the popes, from Bramante to Sansovino, from Melozzo da Forlì and Luca Signorelli to Pellegrino Tibaldi and Lorenzo Lotto, the Lombardi brothers and others.

Il saggio esamina la storia artistica della Santa Casa di Loreto, il santuario mariano più importante dell'età moderna, sorto intorno alla venerata reliquia della casa di Nazareth, trasportata miracolosamente dall'oriente. A partire dalla seconda metà del '400 sono documentabili interventi artistici di rilievo, affidati ad artisti attivi spesso a Roma per i pontefici, da Bramante a Sansovino, da Melozzo da Forlì e Luca Signorelli a Pellegrino Tibaldi e Lorenzo Lotto, i fratelli Lombardi e altri.
