Since its foundation in 2017, the Italian Society for the Study of the Historical- Educational Heritage (SIPSE) has promoted the valorisation and protection of educational heritage, integrating academic approaches and civil society involvement. This contributin explores historical-educational heritage as a key resource for the Public History of Education, focusing on experiences, good practices and new perspectives that emerged during the third SIPSE Congress, held at the Catholic University of Milan (December 2023). The essays collected in the volume offer an interdisciplinary panorama ranging from theoretical analysis to educational design, emphasising the role of communication and participation in heritage valorisation processes. Key themes include the interacion between cultural and educational institutions, the pedagogical potential of historicaleducational sources and the importance of engaging specific audiences to promote shared narratives and historical awareness. Particular attention is paid to the participatory approach, in line with the principles of the Faro Convention, which values cultural heritage as a resource for social cohesion. The volume reflets an evolving state of the art, combining advances studies with experimental initiaves. It represents an invitation to continue in the direction of Public History, an approach capable of responding to contemporary challeges, connecting memory, identity and education.
Il volume raccoglie i saggi presentati durante il terzo Congresso della Società Italiana per lo Studio del Patrimonio Storico-Educativo (SIPSE), che si è svolto presso l’Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Milano il 14 e 15 dicembre del 2023. I contributi qui presentati muovono tutti dalla volontà di applicare l’approccio della Public History al patrimonio storico-educativo. Il testo si articola in tre sezioni: nella prima sono avanzate riflessioni di carattere teorico e metodologico sul tema, nella seconda sono presentate esperienze didattiche e attività sul territorio, mentre la terza si sofferma sull’analisi e la narrazione delle fonti. Nel loro complesso i contributi avanzano prospettive di analisi, proposte di lavoro, progetti realizzati e da realizzare, che restituiscono uno spaccato estremamente ricco e significativo delle molteplici possibilità di esplorazione, narrazione e restituzione del patrimonio storico-educativo. Il valore aggiunto è dato proprio dalla chiave di lettura della Public History, che consente di uscire dai confini angusti dell’Accademia per stabilire un dialogo vivo e partecipe con le diverse anime della società, nell’interesse di una prospettiva di valorizzazione del patrimonio storico-educativo, quanto più possibile ampia e inclusiva.
