Abstract

PhD research at the Department of Physics of Federico II University of Naples, in the framework of the LISA (Laser Interferometer Space Antenna) experiment, a joint ESA-NASA endeavour aiming at space-based gravitational wave detection. Research activity focusing on: 1) the development and test of an optical readout system for the gravitational reference sensor of LISA; 2) the characterization of the optical sensor noise at very low frequencies (100 Hz - 100 mHz); 3) the testing of the sensor on the four mass torsion pendulum facility in Trento. Participation in the Naples VLT Survey Telescope group and especially the mounting of an optical readout system on the secondary mirror of the telescope, to provide a handy solution for measuring its displacements.
