Objective: The objective of this study is to characterize and compare reading fluency in students with mixed subtype dyslexia and students with good academic performance. Material and Method: Thirty schoolchildren, with age ranging from 9 years to 11 years and 11 months, of both sexes, participated in this study. These were divided into group GI: composed of 15 students with an interdisciplinary diagnosis of mixed subtype dyslexia; and group GII: comprising 15 schoolchildren with good academic performance, paired according to gender and age group with GI. The students were subjected to a recording of their oral reading of a narrative text entitled “The Umbrella” from the Reading Comprehension Assessment Protocol. The aspects considered for the comparative analysis of reading fluency performance were words read correctly per minute (CWPM) and words read incorrectly per minute (IWPM). Results: During the reading, students with developmental dyslexia of the mixed subtype presented a lower mean CWPM and a higher mean IWPM.
