„Prima di partire“. Orte, Akteure und Strategien des römischen Ausstellungswesens (1750–1840)

The essay traces the changes and functions of the exhibitions of new works of art over a long period - from the Pontificate of Benedict XIV (1740–1758) up to the first decades of the Restoration. Intertwining sources of different typologies (newspapers, letters, diaries, export licenses etc.) the research investigates the dynamic link between the exhibition system, the artistic market and historical-political contingencies in Rome between 1750 and 1830 ca.

Il saggio ripercorre i cambiamenti e le funzioni delle esposizioni di nuove opere d'arte in un lungo periodo – dal Pontificato di Benedetto XIV (1740–1758) fino ai primi decenni della Restaurazione. Intrecciando fonti di tipolgie diverse (giornali, lettere, diari, licecenze d'esportazione etc. ) la ricerca indaga il legame dinamico tra sistema espositivo, mercato artistico e contingenze storico-politiche a Roma tra il 1750 e il 1830 ca.
