ITINERA aims at enhancing cross-border private public networks in the Adriatic Region, diversifying the environmental tourism product&services, minimising tourism seasonality by means of a methodological integrated&operational approach that will be based on the building and valorization of cultural Routes which follow ancient roman itineraries, in order to increase the attractiveness of less renowned sites while lightening the load on more crowded bathing resorts. ITINERA will use advanced technologies&non-traditional approaches applicable to all the evidence of ancient RR, finding its first application and experimentation on the RR in the Adriatic Area. The touristic valorization of Roman Routes(RR),spreading all around the Adriatic sea basin is also aimed to allow the practice of a multicultural European identity and a concrete sharing of its values by the citizens of MS and other countries which are preparing to join the Schengen Area. ITINERA is an initiative which focuses on the three key objectives of the Strategic Theme5 linked to ITINERA specific objectives. To reduce the seasonality in tourism demand through the valorisation of tourism products connected to the cultural and natural heritage of the Adriatic coasts and hinterland to estimate the potential of Roman Cultural Routes, their needs and concerns on the way to sustainable development to achieve an advanced knowledge of cultural landscapes linked to the presence of Roman Routes to improve visibility of cultural resources along the roman itineraries at an European&transnational level to promote important trans-national Roman cultural products to promote initiatives of community participation in decision-making for designing RR sites to be culturally, physically and virtually accessible by re-interpreting the spaces as new experience of cultural life to improve the techniques of preservation and enhancement of RR included in the network To strengthen environmental friendly tourism through the promotion of cultural and environmental tourist products’ networks able to support tourist demand/supply to promote the role of cultural tourism as a sustainable economic development factor to contribute to public awareness-raising of the preservation and promotion of RR and its archaeological sites along the Adriatic Area in a past-present continuum to reinforce the link between curricular education activities (such as archaeology, history, topography, anthropology, archaeogeophysics, etc) and business and employment needs in the field of tourism; to facilitate vertical integration of cultural touristic enterprises in the Sustainable Cultural Touristic Heritage supply chain with a focus on Roman Routes; to trace specific educational cycle paths along the historical role of the cities involved in the action on the Roman Culture To promote cross-border institutional networks involving key stakeholders (policymakers), supporting the establishment of public private partnerships and developing a joint action to strengthen sustainable tourist routes to strengthen and address the actions of the RTD, Universities, Business Community, Public Institutions and other subjects on the preservation and re-qualification of the tangible and intangible heritage of their areas, through shared and integrated sustainable tourism plans of new RR Itinerary to foster cooperation aiming at the safeguarding of roman routes and the determination of a common strategy for a sustainable management of archaeological remains and landscapes to create an innovative unique concept for the promotion of the cultural inheritance in all participating countries to promote entrepreneurship and encourage synergies with similar actions within participating countries
