Protected areas are among the institutions less investigated from an organizational point of view. Applying theories and techniques of organizational analysis to the Italian context, allow to verify whether or not it is possible to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Italian system of protected areas, leveraging on its organizational factors, in particular institutional factors dedicated to creating the conditions to establish a systemic governing perspective and a national culture of protected areas.
