The language teaching profession is no outsider to the Internet; the array of teaching and reference sites available for consultation bear witness to this fact. However one of the most important contributions that the Internet has made to the foreign language classroom is found in the range of realia that is available online. This article examines two issues regarding the use of the Internet in the foreign language classroom: what the implications are of considering the Internet as a source of authentic teaching materials, and how to go about exploiting such materials in the creation of language teaching modules.
