'The Moonstone' de Wilkie Collins y 'Rosaura a las diez' de Marco Denevi

Anche "The Moonstone" di Wilkie Collins è stato considerato da T. S. Eliot nella sua famosa introduzione al romanzo: “the first and greatest of English detective novels”, ed aggiunse che fu anche “the longest” nel suo genere. In effetti, ambedue vengono considerati dei romanzi gialli, ma la loro classificazione all’interno di questo genere non sembra del tutto appropriata. In nessuna delle due c’è una vera attività investigatrice ed inoltre nel romanzo di Marco Denevi il poliziesco non esiste affatto. Ci sono soltanto le versioni degli ospiti della pensione in cui è avvenuto un delitto, un delitto il cui movente non sarà rivelato al lettore. Tuttavia, ‘The Moonstone’ di Collins costituisce il modello per ‘Rosaura’: simili sono la trama ed il processo di enunciazione. In questo lavoro, dunque, cercheremo di evidenziare le somiglianze e le differenze tra le due opere. Resumen. También la novela de Wilkie Collins "The Moonstone", ha sido considerada por T.S. Eliot en su famosa introducción a la novela: “the first and greatest of English detective novels”, y añadió que fue también “the longest” en su género. En efecto, ambas se consideran novelas policiales pero su clasificación dentro de este género no parece muy apropiada. En ninguna de las dos hay una verdadera actividad investigadora y además en la novela de Denevi lo policial no existe en absoluto. Hay sólo las versiones del los huéspedes de la pensión en que ocurrió un delito; un delito cuyo móvil no se revelará al lector. Sin embargo, "The Moonstone" de Collins constituye el modelo para "Rosaura": la trama y el proceso de enunciación. Abstract. Denevi’s novel “Rosaura a las diez” was defined by Fernando Alegría as “la mejor novela policial que se ha escrito en lengua española (...)”. “The Moonstone” of Wilkie Collins, was considered by T. S. Eliot in the well-known introduction to the novel: “the first and greatest of English detective novels”, and he added that it was also “the longest one” of that kind. Both of them are considered detective novels, even though their inclusion in this literary genre does not seem appropriate. In none of them there is a true detective activity and besides in Marco Denevi’s novel there are no police characters, there are only the version of facts of the guests of the pension where the murder happened, a murder whose ‘motive’ will not be revealed to the reader. Collins’ “The Moonstone” was a model for reference for “Rosaura”: the story and the enunciation process are similar, thus this paper analyses the similarities and differences between the two novels.
